Q: I love your product, but does it really work? A: UVGI has been thoroughly tested in air handling systems and reported on. The most prestigious report was in The Lancet, the British medical journal in November of 2003; where they conclude that this technology could save businesses millions of dollars if they installed such equipment. Much of the residential work has been done by Penn State’s Aerobiological Institute. Lighting for Human Health has drawn on the cutting edge technology in UVGI for the design and engineering of its products. There is no doubt, the L4HH products really do clean, disinfect, and sanitize the air you breath to disrupt the transmission of germs. Q: How does your Purifaire™ product differ from ionizing air cleaner products such as Sharper Image®’s Ionic Breeze®, which I read in Consumer Reports® is both ineffective and produces harmful ozone? A: The ionizing air cleaners use high voltage charging wires to impart a charge to air molecules (creating ions) which are supposed to be attracted to an oppositely charged collector plate. Ozone is created at the charging wires. Lighting for Human Health™’s products use UVGI technology to target only the pathogens (living organisms) in your air and this technology does not add ozone to your air. (see Technology section) Further the Purifaire™ equipment harnesses your existing investment in air handling equipment for your home’s heating and air conditioning system, which provides a substantial air flow transporting germs into the device’s killing zone for a very high efficacy. Q: I don’t have a door where I install my air filter, just a slide under my furnace. Can I still use your Purifaire equipment? A: Yes, you need to use the Purifaire in-duct unit (PA-ID36) which mounts directly into your ductwork at the air plenum.
